Giving thanksFriday, November 23, 2007
Posted by: Cory McClenathan, Fram Filters dragster

I once again find myself feeling very lucky to be an American. As most of you know, a group of us representing GM and NHRA -- me, Jim Yates, Warren Johnson, Tommy Johnson Jr., and Melanie Troxel -- just got back from Germany where we visited with several of the men and women either returning from or heading out to Iraq and Afghanistan fighting for our way of life.

The fact these fine Americans put themselves in harm's way every single day with the potential for catastrophic consequences a very real possibility makes me feel pretty foolish for feeling sorry about my sub-par year on the POWERade tour. Talk about a reality check!

This is the first year in my career as a Top Fuel driver that I haven't finished in the top 10, and yes that hurts, but you have to thank God every day that we are able to have a job we love so much. I think about my loved ones every year at this time not only because of the wake-up call I get when we return to Germany but because it's Thanksgiving weekend and it is the perfect time to reflect on how lucky we are.

I want to thank Fred Simmonds, Jeff Romack, and all the people at GMC that made it possible for me to be part of something that has become very important to me. I also want to thank the Fram gang for donating 1,500 shirts that made so many people smile while we were there, including the little cutie pie in the attached picture.

Talk to you soon,
Cory Mac
