Ready for blastoffTuesday, August 19, 2008

Hi everyone! Grubby here, back to blast out a few words at you all and give my buddy, Todd, a bit of a break.

First off I’d like to talk about our softball match that was canceled due to rain on Thursday night in Reading. Believe me; we were all pretty excited about getting on the field and whupping up on each other, but unfortunately the weather didn’t cooperate. It did finally stop raining just after 8:00 p.m., and there was a few of us that were bound and determined to get on the field and at least play a few innings. The only problem was that the field was so wet we would end up tearing it up and trashing it, which was not a good idea when we discussed it with the grounds keeper. Either way, if at all possible we would have gone out there and did our best for all the fans that braved the weather to watch us.

Speaking of the fans, I would like to say thank you to everyone who came out to watch us play as the turn out was great considering the weather conditions. We all felt bad for them as they sat through torrential rain waiting for us to hit the field. Hopefully we can make it up to them at a later date. Also I would like to send special thank you to Lachelle Seymour and Zak Elcock from the NHRA for all their efforts in making it happen and, from my understanding, it is still going to happen. We just don’t know where and when.

Now on to the DHL race car; Well, here we go again – remnants of last year’s Countdown where I got knocked out by a mere three points by my buddy, Doug Herbert. This year there’s me, my teammate Doug Kalitta, and Morgan Lucas all trying to get every available point to lock our respective positions in the Countdown. Right now, Doug and I are in the Top10 and Morgan’s trying to knock us out. Just imagine if the Coyote ever was able to catch the Road Runner. Do you think he would easily let him go?! That’s how I feel about my Countdown spot, and I’m sure Doug would agree with me. On the other hand, Morgan’s got a different plan, of course. He’s going to try and take that from us. I guess we’ll just have to wait ‘til Indy to see how it all plays out.

Speaking of Indy, our DHL Funny Car team will be making its return back to the track with Jeff Arend behind the wheel. Everybody’s been speaking highly of Jeff, and I’m excited to have him as my teammate. We are all looking forward to a great showing at Indy with our DHL Funny Car.

Well that’s about it for now, you guys take care and we’ll see you at the track!

Grubby.
