A couple of days ago, this billboard appeared on the side of I-94 westbound near the Belleville Road exit, mile marker 190, just a few miles from our race shop here in Ypsilanti. Everyone here that has driven by it has remarked about what a really cool gesture that is, and we started asking around to try to find out who was responsible.
After a few phone calls and discussions, we still had no idea. Tammy Oberhofer, our extraordinary office manager, stopped beside the billboard last night to snap a few pics and hopefully see a phone number or something to further pursue our investigative efforts. Tammy saw the name “ADAMS” on the structure and started there. After looking up the name in the phone book, Tammy was going to give them a call, but after she noticed the address, she changed her mind because she realized that “ADAMS” was our neighbors here on James L. Hart Parkway, Adams Outdoor Advertising. Tammy walked over there this morning to see if they could possibly tell her who put it up.
As it turns out, our neighbors, who admittedly we don’t know very well, know us better than we knew. There are a few drag racing fans over there and even more Connie fans because of his contributions to not only drag racing, but to this area, county, and state. Adams Outdoor Advertising just wanted to do something for us and this was the best way they knew how. They are responsible for this billboard and another near Milan Dragway.
