Has it really been almost a month since I sat down to blog?! Really? Well, according to some nasty E-mails, well, they were more like friendly reminders, I guess it has. In fact, I almost bit the head off of one of the crew guys yesterday for reminding me of my tardiness when I was in a bit of a sour mood, so sorry about that Jerry. Ok, so on to the pleasantries…howdy Team Kalitta fans!

As I have sat down to do this entry, I have visions of a few blog subjects dancing through my head. I could talk about all the happenings in Bristol. Like, how much fun we had at the golf tournament before the race and how JimO and JonO and their team came in third place. We had a hard time getting the trophy out of JimO’s clutches for the rest of the day. The O bros had a great time and obviously a great game out on the course, and the lovely and talented Miss Will and I had a great time just driving our cart around and bugging everyone on the links. Thanks again to Lori and everyone involved for another great event. Lori Worley is one of the top-notch track PR people in the biz and always does a great job promoting our visit to the upper right-hand corner of the Volunteer State…Go Vols!
I could also mention what a wonderful time we had at the circle track in Bristol, Saturday night when Doug K. teamed up with his partner Jeff Counts to win the NHRA circle track challenge. I’m sure you’ve all read about their glory on this very Web site, but what you may not know is that Jeff backed up his win with Doug with another win at his home track, Lonesome Pine Raceway in Coeburn, Va., just a few nights later to complete what Jeff called his “dream week”. It could not happen to a nicer guy or a nicer family. Jeff and his family and some of their friends came out to Bristol Dragway on Sunday to watch us race and had a blast! It was certainly our pleasure to have them out, and everyone at Kalitta Motorsports wishes Jeff and his family the best of luck.
Those make good blog subjects, but now I want to talk about…
Mustard
No, I am not fixated on hamburger condiments, but mustard as in the recently added hues to our new DHL dragster driven by the ever-popular Mr. Grubby, not to be mistaken for Eddie Hill. Everyone at Kalitta Motorsports is ecstatic that our partnership with DHL just keeps getting stronger. Grubby looks good in yellow, don’t you think? Seriously, it’s great to see DHL on the sides of two of our race cars now.
Pickles
Just kidding…I have nothing remotely associated with pickles to talk about. Well, wait a second…I do! So, in closing for this accidently culinary-themed entry, I leave you with this. My buddy and bottom-end specialist on Miss Will’s dragster Chris Glass, (remember me mentioning him in the Smokey and the Bandit blog?) and I were discussing the subject of pickles recently. You see, Chris and I are both southerners. Chris is from Texas, and as you all know, I am a native of the greatest state in the union, Tennessee. Mr. Glass, “Beaker” for you nickname fans, and I have both noticed a trend in a certain fast food restaurant (whose brand colors very closely resemble those of this blog, besides green) to serve “southern style” menu items. Beaker and I would like to go on the record to say this…Adding a pickle to a sandwich, though quite tasty, does not automatically make it southern. There, we said it and we feel much better that that is off our collective southern chests. Everyone knows you have to put some BBQ sauce on it, too!
Todd has left the building.
