Hello Team Kalitta fans, Jon "O" here. I just got back from Florida where I went fishing with “Waterbed Fred” Miller and Scott’s oldest son, Corey Kalitta. If you know the Hall of Fame inductee, you know that Waterbed takes fishing very seriously! I never knew that you could fish the way he does, with GPS. He has a book called the Bible that lists all his good fishing spots, even the ones where he has to blindfold you before he takes you there.

Corey is an avid fisherman as well. He showed up at Fred’s house with all sorts of gear. I showed up with me, myself, and I. We went fishing with Fred’s friends – Captain Kevin, John and David. We all caught fish and had a great time. Corey kept giving me a hard time about having to go back to Detroit where it was 20 degrees. I told him that he could come back and go ice fishing with me, but he declined. At least it is sunny and 70 degrees in the shop. Ha.

It was great to spend time with Corey and Fred, they taught me a lot about saltwater fishing. I plan to cook up some of the fish we caught really soon. I went from 70-degree weather and fishing to 20-degree weather and attending my daughters’, Jessica and Julia, piano recital when I got back to Michigan. They both did great and it was definitely worth coming home to, no matter what the temperature is.

Just in case any of you were wondering if we got the prestigious Duffer Award for the third year in a row at the Blain Johnson Memorial Golf Tournament, the answer is “No.” It was my brother’s fault because he called in a ringer, our cousin Richard Massey. He is a former pro golfer. We didn’t win either, but we had a great time.

Thanks to all and have a happy holiday season.

Jon “O”
