An introduction is in order ...Thursday, July 17, 2008

Hey Herbert fans!! I guess to start things off I need to introduce myself. My name is Sara Fensterer and I am Doug’s new PR rep. I’m pretty excited about working with him and everyone involved in the NHRA. Actually probably more than ‘pretty’ excited, I’m very excited! I’m from small town North Carolina and went to college at UNC Chapel Hill (Go Heels!).

When I got out of school I interned for awhile at Lowe’s Motor Speedway and then started working for MCG Sports, located in Davidson, N.C. I worked on the NASCAR side of things for and then had this opportunity to move over to the NHRA, no more circle track for me! I’ve only been working with Doug for two weeks but I can already tell that he’s a great guy. Everyone, including folks from the media, people who work at the tracks, people who work for the NHRA and fans, have already been so welcoming!

This week I had my first media gig with Doug, going with him to the John Boy and Billy radio show. If you live anywhere in the South you’ve probably listened to these guys for years. They have known Doug for a long time and are longtime supporters of DHR. They were great, a lot of fun! Doug talked about the win at Norwalk, BRAKES, and the western swing. He’ll tell you more about that in his blog, I’m sure!

We’re on a plane right now heading out to Seattle. I flew to Texas last fall for a Cup race but the farthest west I’ve been other than that is Tennessee, so I’m pretty excited to see what the west coast is like. As soon as we land we’re heading to the Seattle Space Needle for this week’s NHRA media luncheon. Should be pretty neat, several other drivers will be there along with Doug. I’m sure he’ll be talking about his recent win at Norwalk. I know all of Doug’s fans understand how great it was for him to win that one! Once we finish up with that, we’ll head to the track.

I haven’t gotten to meet any of the crew guys yet so I’m really excited to get to the track and introduce myself to all of the guys. I’m really looking forward to interacting with a lot of the fans this weekend. If you’re at the track anytime soon, please stop by and say hello! If you haven’t noticed, the folks with the NHRA site were kind enough to add an “Email this blogger” link to Doug’s blog so feel free to shoot us an e-mail! Doug and I both like hearing from the fans!

Until next time….

Sara
