Hi blog readers,
Once again sorry for so long between updates but I will try to get you up date as much as I can.
This past Friday we celebrated Jessie’s 10th birthday. It was a great time! I had none 10-year-old girls to watch with the help of Jon’s girlfriend Maddie and another one of Jon’s 12th grade classmates, Abby.
I think it will be a party that she will remember for a long time; actually I wanted to make sure of it.
First thing was a ride in a really cool Hummer limo to the roller skating rink. The ride was fun and the skating was fun. I even put on a set of skates for myself. I think that once again I must have looked like Herman Munster on the skate rink floor! It was sure fun though.
After skating we headed over to my buddy Ron Herbert’s place, Red Rocks Café in Birkdale. to eat, The girls love this place and they even made up special menus and a big chocolate cake for Jessie. It was cool.
Once dinner was done it was back to the house. I thought that we would open presents and play some indoor games but Jessie and her friends had different ideas. They wanted to swim! Even though it was a little too cold for me I was not going to hold back on any part of the fun so along with the older girls we did the lifeguard duty.
I must say they lasted way longer than I thought they would. When I asked Jessie if she was gonna be okay with being so cold in the pool her reply was, “Dad it’s not so bad after a while because you just get numb!” That was not my idea of a fun swim!
Anyways after the swim we ate some birthday cake and opened presents. She got some great stuff and we all had a great time. I finally couldn’t take much more and had to hit the hay at about midnight but Maddie and Abby kept the girls company and acted as the leaders until whatever time they decided to go to sleep.
In the morning the girls were up and ready to go again. Even though my tail was dragging I was up helping them get set and eat some breakfast.
Not long after the girls left I took Jessie, her friend Gabby, James’ best friend Chris, and Jon’s best friend Mike, along with my friend John and his son John, to see the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds air show in Wilmington, N.C. And WOW, what a great show it was! My buddy Major Keen (The Thunderbirds pilot who flew me in the F-16 a few years ago) had us all set up. It was incredible.
I know that I am leaving a few things out but this is the bulk of it. Take care and I will try to update again soon.
Over and out for now,
Doug
