It’s been a long time…Thursday, July 10, 2008
Posted by: Tom Hammonds, Hammonds Racing Chevy

I apologize that it has taken me so long to post a blog entry, but a lot has taken place. First, I would like to offer my condolences to the Kalitta Family. Everyone thinks they have problems, but everything fails in comparison to what the Kalitta Family is experiencing in losing Scott in the tragic accident in Englishtown. We all are moving forward the best we can and use this horrific accident to continue to make the sport safer.

As everyone knows we have parked our race team to look for sponsorship just as every other race team does some time or another. Everyone also knows how tough it is as far as the economy is concerned, but you know what, that is not going to stop us from moving forward and trying to achieve our goals!  Just like I tell the kids that participate in the Tom Hammonds Race for Achievement program, you need to always believe in yourself and have faith. As long as you do that coupled with working hard for what you believe, you can be successful. I am a full believer, because I would not continue to give this message.

We are going to continue moving forward and have a lot of good things working as far as sponsorship is concerned. Hopefully, you will see the team back on the circuit pretty soon. The main thing is the fact that you have to work hard in what you believe in, even if that means making tough decision. If you bring your part, the Lord will bring his part in blessings.

Oh, I almost forgot, make sure to pick up the August issue of Ebony magazine. I am the first featured in a new section called “Cool Jobs,” that will be in every issue. There are eight covers, and this issue is a collector’s item. I am really honored!
