Hey "GilbyManiacs" I wasn't planning on blogging today but I've got a few hours before I have to go to the airport to pick up my friend Edzo then head out to the track for the weekend so I figured I'd type at you guys real quick.
Yesterday we took our Rinnai Monte Carlo through NHRA's "Chamber" as it's called. This is where the tech guys go over the car and measure every square inch of the body to make sure it meets NHRA's body specs. I'm pleased to announce we passed with flying colors and we are now ready to race.
In a previous blog we had one of our stupid contests and we received almost one hundred entries but the very first one to respond with the correct answer was John Richnow from New Caney, Texas who knew that "Little Willie" Littlefield was the first to perform "Kansas City, here I come" but was made popular by Wilbert Harrison and that the Chambers Brothers sung "Time has come today." Congrats John and I'll put your prize package in the mail next week.
Tonight from 5 to 7 p.m. we'll have our racecar on display at our host hotel, the Hampton Inn University for their "Nitro Kick-Off" party. Gilby will be on hand signing autographs, there will be food, drinks and a drawing for prizes and it's open to anyone and everyone so if you're in the area stop by and say hi.
Now the bad news. The weather forecast for this weekend doesn't look good, matter of fact it's really bad. They're calling for rain all day today, tomorrow and Saturday. The only day that looks good is Sunday. Yesterday afternoon a thunderstorm hit that dropped an inch of rain in the area in just 25 minutes! Rumor in the pits is that if they can't run the race this weekend it will be rescheduled for Oct 23-25. There is an open weekend on the schedule right after the Virginia race but NASCAR will be right across the street that weekend so that weekend is out.
Gotta run right now, let's all keep our fingers crossed for good weather and I'll type at you on Monday.
