Just wanted to check in here real quick to bring you up to speed on what's going on...
Yesterday (Friday) we found the junk yard where about half of our stolen clutch discs and floaters were scrapped. Dig this, the buyer paid the thieves only $100 for about 60 discs (that cost us about $125 each) and a like amount of floaters. These stupid guys had no idea what they had.
Today we've got a whole team of people out there going to every scrap yard and speed shop in the area looking for more clues, hopefully we'll be able to get some more leads.
Gotta give a quick shout out to some faithful "GilbyManiacs" who checked in and offered their help. First off the lovely and talented Deb Kluttz from nearby Gastonia, N.C. who put her posse out there on the highways and byways looking for the flamed wrecker and Dan Ossonfort from one of my old home towns, Manasquan, N.J. who has offered us the use of his golf cart for the Charlotte race, thanks Dan and I'll be in touch.
Then there's a guy by the name of Barry Ford from Oklahoma City who asked me to send this along to Wally Stroupe who helped us break the case:
Wally,
Just wanted to drop you a quick note to say THANKS for being a part of the racing family. Whether it is dirt or asphalt, straight or turning left, two wheels or four. I just read Berserko Bob’s blog on NHRA.com and it is because of great folks like you that I am proud to say I am a racer. If I am ever in need of anything you might have to offer through your business I can assure you it will be purchased without hesitation from you.
This is why drag racing fans are the best sports fans in the world.
Back at you on Monday; enjoy your weekend.
