Hey everyone, BB here once again with another brief edition of Gilby's blog.
First off I know that in our last blog I screwed up big-time. Reporting on the press conference at zMax Dragway I called Kyle Busch Kurt. My excuse is that all the NASCAR drivers look the same to me. The thing that surprised me the most was how many of you wrote to correct me. I received over 30 emails and they're still coming in; thanks to all of you for straightening me out.
Speaking of zMax Dragway, we're only one week away from the Inaugural Carolina Nationals and wouldn't you know it, there's not one but two hurricanes headed our way. The first one, Hanna, looks like it's going to miss the Charlotte metro area but we should get some rain from it this weekend. Then Hurricane Ike is next up and depending what forecast you look at it might create some problems for next weekend's race. Hopefully it will turn north and miss us so keep your fingers crossed.
Being that Charlotte is a racing town they really get behind all the racing events around here and the drag races are no exception. The city of Charlotte and the NHRA are putting on a Fan Fest next Wednesday right smack dab in the middle of downtown Charlotte to kick off the Countdown to 1 points battle. They do something similar during the NASCAR race weekends they call Speed Street where they close off some streets and park race cars all over the place and I'm happy to announce that we'll be part of the festivities. We'll have the first public showing of our new Rinnai Tankless Water Heater Funny Car from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. so if you're in town make it a point to stop on by. The cool part is that all the folks who work downtown pour out of all the big office buildings for lunch to check out what's going on and there will be a lot of eye candy if you get my drift. See you there.
That's all for now, type at you L8R.
