Big Saturday night and moreTuesday, September 30, 2008

Hey everyone, BB back at you today with a follow up to our last blog and some other stuff you need to know.

If you read the blog below, we held our "Rockin' For A Cure" charity event to benefit the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation Saturday night. To say the event was a big success is an understatement, 500 people showed up for the live and silent auctions, the Paul Thorn concert and to help raise money for CF. The goal was to raise $50,000 but at the last count the total is over $60,000 and rising so everybody involved is really pleased.

I'll let Bob's nephew Chris, who was a big part in putting the deal together tell you more in his own blog later this week, stay tuned.

Let's go racing...

The Trick Tank Arenacross team will be hitting the road this Sunday for the cross-country drive to Las Vegas for the biggest Arenacross race in the country, the U.S. Open held at the MGM Grand Arena Oct 10-12. All four of our team riders -- Jake Gilbertson, Justin Hopson, Josh Harris and Jim Chester, (or the "Four Js" as they're called) -- raced at qualifying races up and down the East Coast last winter to earn enough points to be invited to the U.S. Open. It's sorta like the Countdown to 1 for the dirt-bike crowd so they'll be racing the best riders in the country in a winner-take-all shootout. All of the team have U.S. Open podium finishes in the past and Josh, Justin, and Jim all have national championships on their resumes and we're all pulling for Jake to pick up his first national victory next weekend.

Now let's talk about the logistics of getting there. First off we've got to get about 25 motorcycles to Vegas. Not a problem, the team will be driving Gilby's motorcoach with a huge stacker trailer filled to the gills with all the bikes, parts and tools needed to race. Most of the team will ride in the coach that the team's lead mechanics "John Boy" Harris and Kim "Cabbage" Cabe will drive out there while the rest of the families, friends and supporters will fly.

Drag Racing... Kevin and the rest of the team are down in Blacksburg working on the Funny Car. We would have raced Richmond next weekend as it's just up the road but with the schedule conflict with the U.S. Open Gilby made the choice to go to Vegas and support his son and the team. We're planning on racing later this month and if good things happen you might see us on the left coast to finish off the season; don't count on it, but it might happen. I'll keep you informed.

I've received a ton of emails asking about NASCAR driver Mike Wallace making some licensing laps in our car and what's the status with that? Well let me tell you this, he's got a firesuit on order, this is a serious deal and we're working on getting a half-hour TV package together. Again I'll keep you up to speed right here.

That's all for now, type at you L8R.
