Hey everyone, Double B here with a very special edition of Gilby's blog.
As you know, if you're a regular here, I've been teasing that we were working on a new marketing partner for our home-town race, the Inaugural Carolinas Nationals Sept. 11-14 at the near-by zMax Dragway @ Concord.
Well it all came to be last Monday night and I'm pleased to announce that Rinnai Tankless Hot Water Heaters will adorn the flanks of the Terminator Motorsports Monte Carlo for the Charlotte race. This is a program we've been working on for a long time and I've got to give a shout out to those who helped put this together.
First off is Chris Stermon, he's Bob's nephew and the GM of TEMCO. He's got a lot on his plate but he found the time to work on this project, without his effort we wouldn't have this deal.
Next up is Rich Singer, our in-house graphics guy who was featured in a blog earlier this month (see below). He spent endless hours working on the graphics, without his creative mind again we'd be dead in the water.
Then there's Gilby himself. He let the folks who work for him (including me) do their job and without his support we wouldn't have been able to do what it took to team up with Rinnai.
Last but not least is all the fine folks at Rinnai who have some experience with racing in NASCAR but this will be their first venture into drag racing and we're all looking forward to hosting them at the biggest-baddest-best drag strip in the world.
Also got to thank Bruton and Marcus Smith for building the best drag racing venue in the whole-world and giving us the playing field to strut our stuff.
Next up for us is the open house at zMAX Dragway this Saturday from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. I'll be there but Gilby and the Trick Tank MX team are going racing on Saturday and Sunday so I got his Panther's football tickets again (Thanks Gilby!) After the 7:30 game against the Redskins I'll be then going to the Tremont Music Hall in Southend Charlotte where I'll be joining my favorite band on stage, the Belmont Playboys to sing my one-hit wonder, the Surfin' Bird. Should happen around 12:30 a.m., if you're in the area feel free to stop by and mention this blog and I'll get you in for free.
One last thing, if you're coming to the Charlotte race make plans to be in Uptown Charlotte Wednesday, Sept 10 from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m., you'll be glad you did. News at 11.
