Hey ya'll, BB here today with a couple of things including a pretty good deal for those of you fans coming to the inaugural Carolinas Nationals.
As you're probably aware this is going to be a hometown race for us. We know a lot of business owners in the area and some came to us to see how they could get involved with our team and the race. One of those businesses who has jumped on board with Terminator Motorsports is our friends at the Homewood Suites by Hilton University.
This is a great place to stay as it's only six miles from the track and has literally dozens of restaurants in walking distance. The cool part is that they've set up a web page for the race and are offering a special room rate of only $99 which is a steal in the area. Plus there's going to be a lot of other fun things happening there so check it out at: http://homewoodsuites.hilton.com/en/hw/groups/personalized/CLTPKHW-NHA-20080910/index.jhtml
In other news every time I put something up in our blog about fishing I get a lot of responses so here's a story about what our team chef Edzo Preston did last weekend. He and a couple of his fishing buddies down in West Palm Beach, Fla. decided that they'd take a lap over to the Bahamas for a couple of days as they got the word that the tuna, dolphin and billfish were biting big time. It's a three hour cruise to Rock Island which they use as the base of their operations. Small island; only thing on it is a combo bar/store/fuel. The place exists only for the fishing boats that stop by.
Edzo told me he packed two bathing suits, two t-shirts, a pair of flip flops, a case of beer, a bottle of rum and his cosmetic bag, that's it.
There were four of them on the boat and in two days they caught over 200 fish of all sorts (a lot of Barracudas) but they were most happy about these Dolphins they reeled in. They are also called Mahi-Mahi but what ever you call them they're the best eating fish I've ever had especially the way Edzo prepares it on the grill.
Ed's already filleted, vacuum-packed and flash-frozen them so that we can have fish tacos for breakfast at the Carolina's Nationals.
Speaking of that it's only seven weeks until the race, the city is all revved-up about the drags and hopefully we'll get to see a lot of you "GilbyManiacs" there.
