Hey Y'all, Double-B here (not to be confused with Brandon Bernstein), the nickname Bob Frey uses for the "Bud Prince." I can see we resemble each other and how Frey gets confused as we're both exceptionally good-looking and have dyed blond hair but we're two different people.
Anyway let's kick this blog off with a Charlotte dragstrip update.
Slid by there today and here's a few shots to whet your appetite. Top shot (I'm sorry it's from so far away but there was a huge crane hoisting mechanicals to the top of the tower) and I couldn't get as close as I wanted but they're pouring footings for the guardrails. There's been a lot of speculation about this being a four-lane dragstrip and I don't know if that's the case, but it looks pretty wide to me.
The next shot is of the pit grandstands and as you can see they're coming along nicely, thank you. Then there's the tower, and it's progressed at a rapid rate since the last time I was at the site; it's closed in with all the windows and stairs completed and they're working on the interior.
I was told by the construction supervisor that they had 450 workers on the site every day and a second shift will start next week to insure the track will be done in time for the Carolinas Nationals Sept. 12-14 and, knowing Bruton Smith the way I do, it will be done in time and should be as Bruton called it "The Bellagio of all drag strips."
In other news, we're not going to be at Chicago this weekend as we're doing the first (of what I'm sure will be many) displays for our new sponsor, Tradicion Azul Tequila this Saturday night from five until ? in beautiful, downtown Gaffney, S.C. It's going to be at Benna's Sports Bar off of I-85, exit 92 and if you're in the area please stop by.
Let's get to the stupid contest. Here's a photo of a quart can. The first fan (no crew guys allowed) who emails us using the address above the correct answer to the following question will win a marvelous (again thanks Frey) prize package from Terminator Motorsports and Tradicion Azul Tequila.
Please put "Stupid Contest" in the subject line as I get way too much spam and I'm not going to open anything else.
Okay, here's the two part question: What is the slang name for this stuff and what is it used for on a nitro engine?
Good luck and I'll type at you soon with the winner...
