Hey everyone, I know it's been a week since our last blog but it's been a little crazy around here lately. I just want to check in real quick to bring you up to speed on what's happening at the world headquarters of Terminator Motorsports.
The big project we've been working on, just like every other team, is looking for a marketing partner for 2009. It's tough out there as even NASCAR teams are losing sponsors left and right but we're still beating the bushes and have a couple of companies that have shown interest in our program so we're keeping our fingers crossed.
Speaking of sponsors a lot of you have asked what happened to the deal we had with Tradicion Azul Tequila? Good question.
Basically Tradicion Azul, as of right now, is distributed in only four states: Texas, California, Nevada and Florida. Bottom line is that it's taking them a lot longer to get their product out there than they thought it would. They're still supporting our effort but until they get nation-wide distribution it just doesn't make sense for them to promote a product that most of the country can't buy.
Rinnai Tankless Hot Water Heaters was our primary sponsor for the Charlotte (oops! Concord) race as a one-race trial deal. They are an associate sponsor on Matt Kenseth's #17 in NASCAR and this was their first stab at drag racing. They were very pleased with the whole experience and I'm sure that they'll be back with us one way or another as soon as the economy picks up. Most of their sales are to new-home buyers and we all know what kind of shape that industry is in.
Me, I've been writing updates and copy for our gaggle of websites. We've got four of 'em and it takes a lot of work but with the recent addition of Brent Friar, former webmaster of NHRA dot com, to our team it's going to be a lot less hassle for me. Welcome aboard, Brent. When the new and improved sites go live I'll let you guys know.
Gilby and the Trick Tank MX team took a short drive down I-85 to beautiful, downtown Easley, S.C. this weekend for the first of the in-door Arenacross races of the winter season. They raced both Friday and Saturday and I'm very pleased to let you know that Jake Gilbertson raced in two classes both nights (85cc 12-15 and Unlimited 85cc or Super Mini) and won all four main events for a clean sweep of the 85cc classes. Gilby's quote was "Jake was on fire, rode like I've never seen him ride before." Jake also entered the Schoolboy class to see what it was like to race with the "big boys" and represented himself well with a third and a fifth. They'll be hitting a couple of local non-points events around here until they go on the road the first week of January for the Arenacross tour that kicks off Jan 2-4 in Grand Rapids, Mich.
One last thing. I received a few emails asking about the elf and the witch in our last blog. I printed all of them out and passed them along to the girls who were very flattered and maybe, just maybe, you'll hear from them...?
That's all for now, type at you L8R...
