The other day I was reading a drag racing message board and it made me laugh when they talked about a lot of the drivers not writing their own blogs and having ghost writers. For those of you who read my blog, there’s no way someone could come up with the stories that we write about. I do have help typing because that’s one area I’m not strong in. I’m a one-finger typer and that takes a long time. PR Ted is fast on the keyboard, like me in my Cat dragster. I talk, he types. Sometimes at the track, sometimes over the phone; that’s how our blog rolls.
We left off with me flying to Indy for an appearance at MacAllister Cat in Richmond, Ind. It was a fast trip and a cool experience. It was my first time doing a Cat Rental Store opening. Our show car was on display, there was a live radio remote, it was a beautiful day, and we signed autographs from 3-6 p.m. It seemed like everyone came at once around 5:30 p.m. after work, and we stayed until nearly 7 to meet with all the fans.
Then I hauled butt back to Avon to Gary and Cody’s condo. They work on my dragster, and some of the team guys gathered to hang out. Rob Flynn and his wife, Michelle, and their two kids, Paul and Stacey, were there. Gary and Cody have a PS3, and Paul Flynn was playing a WWE wrestling game, and I’ve never played video games much, so Paul gave me a beat down. If I was the Rock, I’d be mad at me. Then we played the NHRA Drag Racing game. Same story there. Good thing I can drive on the track because I couldn’t race on the video game.
I have to mention that I went by the shop and the girls, Diana and Tracy, had a birthday cake for all of the team members that have April birthdays. It’s weird for me being in Indy because I’m not there much. The guys ask what I’m doing or if I’m lost? I walked into the lobby, and there was Larry Dixon talking to Antron. You don’t get that in Vegas. Sometimes I think it would be cool to live in Indy because everyone is there, but it is nice to be away from it all and get away from racing for a few days. Very seldom do I get recognized or asked about drag racing in Las Vegas.
After my Indy trip, I got home and worked out with AT Dave. We can’t call him “PT Dave.” Hahaha! It’s a big pet peeve of his. We put PT Dave on the envelope that had his tickets for the Las Vegas race a few weeks ago. It irked him. I was talking to PR Ted on the way home from working out, and he told me about this cool Affliction polo shirt he saw at Nordstrom’s that he liked. I ended up going to the Fashion Show Mall last weekend to do some shopping. I bought that shirt and a lot more. Thanks Ted! I better win some rounds and make some bonus money this weekend to pay off my credit card bill next month. If you want a pair of hot, trendy jeans, check out the Laguna Beach Jean Co. and Robin’s jeans. That’s my fashion tip for the week. Maybe we’ll start giving fashion tips to all the NHRA fans.
It was my birthday last Sunday and some friends had me over for dinner on Saturday night. Thanks for the birthday wishes I saw on Nitromater. I turned 37, and they joked that I’m 3’7” tall. I am 37, and I didn’t realize I was short until I read that message board last weekend. LOL Later that night, I had a date. We went to Red Rock Casino. They have a club and a group called Zowie Bowie was playing. It’s a guy and a girl, and they play the latest Top 40 hits. They’re a cool cover band. It was a long night. I got home when the sun was coming up. She could be “the one,” but I’m still a free agent. LOL
That’s about it. I flew to Atlanta on Thursday and didn’t get to the hotel until like 10 p.m. My flight was delayed, and I didn’t get to eat sushi with the guys in Athens. We made a good run last night, and our first run was strong until it mixed up cylinders. I think the big Cat is back.
Have a good weekend.
