Hey everyone. It’s been some time, so we’re back on the blog after nearly a month. After the Las Vegas race it was busy for me. SEMA was in town and I had to do a few appearances for Toyota and Borla. Also, both my parents and the Jeffrey family were in town for the D7 race at LVMS. It’s not very often that I get to see my folks for like two weeks, so it was great spending time with them in my hometown.
Racing in my hometown is like a showcase week for me. It’s like homecoming for the football team. It’s fun doing radio interviews and all the PR work. I’m lucky to have a race at my home track, and we couldn’t have had a better weekend other than to win that final round. I had a great feeling prior to the race. I heard the advertisement on the radio for the race on Wednesday and it really pumped me up. I was excited to have Rip Reynolds back on my crew. He was on the team when I got started with David Powers and it was nice to have him back on our team. He was there for our first win back in 2005 and adds a lot to the entire team. We did a little restructuring and he moved from the Matco team to our team. The CAT car ran just like last season and we had a great weekend for our team and all the folks at CAT Undercarriage. We had our quickest and fastest 1,000-foot run. I knew we were making good runs. I didn’t need to see the scoreboard. I always know what we run now with 1,000-foot cause we can see the scoreboard at the finish line. It was just a fun weekend. AT Dave was there getting me ready between rounds. I wish he could go on tour with us, but the UNLV basketball program needs him more than I do. I really thought it was our race to win. We had lane choice for the final round and we had been running better all day. It felt good and we were right there and like they have been all year made another great run at stepped up at the right time. They stopped us at 10 straight wins at the fall Vegas race, but now we have our sights set on Pomona. We really would like to beat them before Alan Johnson leaves the U.S. Army team next year and we’ve got one race left to do it. Both of our David Powers cars are running really well and I don’t see why Antron or I can’t win this last race of ’08.
Lately, we’ve been gearing up for the softball game. I’m not sure if I was 100 percent at Reading, but I feel great now. I’ve been to the batting cages a lot lately. I doubt we can knock any out of the park in a minor league ball park, but if there is temporary fencing, I’ll be swinging for the long ball. I hope the So Cal fans come out and see us on Wednesday for the charity softball game. It should be a fun time and we expect Antron’s team to win.
See you at Pomona. Take care.
