The brothaman's been busyWednesday, September 29, 2010

Hey there all my Nitroholics. The time has come. You can be true Nitroholics. My shameless plug is coming early in this NHRA.com driver blog, so get ready. My “Nitroholic” line of apparel is yours for the taking. Visit www.antronbrown.com and you too can be an official Nitroholic. The first line of apparel rolled out this week and we’ll have more to come in the near future.

I’m very excited to launch this new line of Nitroholic clothing. We’re going to push it to the limit with this line. We have some very exciting things on the horizon. The goal is to have some stylish shirts and rock some racing gear at the same time. We want to give the fans something they can wear out and not just at the race track. To check it out, just click the header at the top of my home page. I have to give it up to my boy Jeff for designing some great looking apparel.

There’s been a lot going on over the past month. Indy is always a busy race. We had a lot going on like visiting Riley Hospital for Children and our great open DSR Open House on Sept. 3 that generated nearly $20,000 for Riley.

After Indy, we enjoyed a weekend off and then left early for Charlotte, one of our favorite tracks. I was fortunate enough to join five of my Matco Tools crew members and six of Tony Schumacher’s U.S. Army crew members and jump with the U.S. Army Golden Knights. We jumped at the Golden Knights training center in Laurinburg, N.C. I did my tandem jump with SFC Mike Elliott who has jumped President George H.W. Bush two times. We all had a great time except Ryan McGilvry on the Army team. He’s their team prankster and his teammates got him good. I don’t think we’ll see Ryan jumping again anytime soon. If you didn’t see our ‘Getting Down With Brown’ piece that aired in Dallas on ESPN2 from the Golden Knights jump, you can check out my Facebook Fan Page: Antron Brown – Top Fuel Pilot. There’s an awesome video I know you’ll enjoy.

While we enjoyed an off weekend between Indy and Charlotte, my pop, Al, and uncle, Andre, were racing their Super Comp dragster as a Division 1 race at Raceway Park in Englishtown, N.J., the track I grew up racing at and watching races. Uncle Andre brought it home for the Brown family and scored the ‘Wally’ trophy in Super Comp. They won at Atco (N.J.) a few years ago too, and are doing a great job in both Super Comp and Top dragster. They ran a great 8.906 in the final round to win the race, and they’ve got one more win that I do this season, but we’re working hard to reverse that trend at the last three races. We’ve made some great strides with our Matco Tools dragster at Dallas and I’m very excited to get to Reading (Pa.).

Before the Dallas race, we visited Texas State Technical College (TSTC) at Waco for the second straight year. Our Matco Tools/U.S. Army dragster was on display and I visited with two groups of students as part of the Matco Tools TechEd program. We visit six or seven schools around the country each year, and if you’d like to have the Matco Tools Top Fuel dragster visit your school, hit up your local Matco Tools distributor. And don’t forget to start off your career with the best tools in the business at a young age. Matco has great student incentive programs, so check it out.

Thursday night at Dallas we joined a whole group of NHRA drivers for a fun night of bowling at Splittsville in Arlington, Texas. It was the coolest bowling alley I’ve ever been to. They even have an outdoor bowling lane. The food was awesome to. I never envisioned upscale bowling, but Splittsville is awesome. We had a great time bowling with fans and the brothaman can actually throw the bowling ball ok. Here’s a photo of me and some Matco distributors at Splittsville. The two in the Texas Longhorns burnt orange are my brothers from another mother, Henry and Sam Brown.

We qualified fourth at Dallas and just got outrun by Brandon Bernstein and the Copart boys in round two. They threw down that awesome 3.78. We made a nice run, but learned we’ve got to run hard to win races. Like I said, I wish Reading was this weekend and we were heading off to Maple Grove Raceway in a few days.

I’m heading off to St. Joseph, Mo. on Thursday for fifth annual Path 2 Victory car show event at Frederick Boulevard Baptist Church. It’s a great faith-based event I’m excited to attend alongside Norm Miller, the President of Interstate Batteries. If you live in Missouri or Kansas, come check us out on Thursday night in St. Joe.

That’s about it for now, and with that, it’s time for some love, peace and hair grease, and the brothaman is out like shout. Don’t forget to follow myself, DSR and all six DSR drivers on Facebook. We’re really ramping up our social media effort.

God bless.
