Hello from Florida!Tuesday, January 12, 2010

Hey everyone. Happy New Year from the brothaman. It’s January 12 and we’re coming at you live from Palm Beach International Raceway in a chilly South Florida. It’s warmer than Indy, but not by much. Hey, at least the sun is out and we’re playing with nitromethane.

I hope you all had a great holiday season with your families. The Brown’s laid low this year staying home in Indy for Christmas. My wife’s family visited us from Louisiana and I can say it’s nice to sleep in your own bed. Especially as much as we’re on the road. Some of my boys are already complaining to me that they don’t like the hotel room beds. Such is life on the road.

Well, we got into town on Sunday evening here in West Palm Beach. I’m still licking my wounds after the butt whooping the Cowboys put on my Eagles for the second straight week. The ‘boys look good. And how about that Cardinals/Packers game on Sunday. I just got to see the highlights as we were flying during that game. I think we’ve got some awesome games in store this weekend. Indy is all amped up about the Colts game on Saturday night, especially after losing the last two games after benching the starters.

Can you believe we’re testing already? Our off season seems to get shorter and shorter. The guys got back from the Christmas break on Jan. 4 and had to leave that Saturday to drive to Florida. We didn’t get our tech trailer back from Competition Trailers until Jan. 5. My boys spent most of the week getting things situated in our newly outfitted tech trailer, and let me tell you, it’s nice. My Matco boys have some sweet digs to work in at the track.

I know I’ve been slacking on the blog, but I’ve been really good about “tweeting.” I’ve been sending my Twitter “tweets” on a pretty regular basis. If you’re not following us on Facebook and/or Twitter, check me out at www.twitter.com/AntronBrownTF. I like keeping the fans informed of my travels and goings-on. It’s great that I can send Twitter updates as a text message.

I can’t believe the 50th annual Winternationals are just four weeks away. Four weeks from this Thursday we start the 2010 NHRA season. Hopefully testing goes well for our DSR Matco Tools team because we have plenty of shelf space for a nice gold “Wally” next to that Pomona trophy we won last November from the Auto Club Finals. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to win the 50th annual Winternationals and we want to go into Pomona running strong.

Let me tell you, the only way to go to an NHRA race is by getting your tickets from a Matco Tools distributor so you can be part of our race team if you're a Matco Tools customer. Matco distributors can sell you a ticket to our Iron Eagle Club so you can be right in the middle of the action. We’ll be pitted next to “Fast Jack” Beckman and that Valvoline/MTS team and guests will not only get to hang with Jack and me, but all six DSR drivers. Plus, you get a great meal and gift. It’s an awesome experience. To be part of the team, call 888-MYMATCO, and tell them Antron sent ya!

Alright folks, we’re about to start our Matco Tools dragster for the second lap of the day. We ran 3.86 at 314 on our first full pass of 2010, so it’s time to step it up.

With that, a little love, peace and hair grease, and I’m out like shout.

God bless.
