Testing 1-2-3Wednesday, October 21, 2009

Hey again everyone. We’re at The Strip at LVMS where we’re testing before the fall Las Vegas race next weekend. It’s beautiful out here in Vegas, and from what my lovely wife tells me, it’s beautiful in Indy too. It had been cold and gloomy in Indy and we leave for warm Las Vegas and it gets warm in Indy. Go figure. I’m sure it’ll get cold and rainy when I come home on Thursday. Oh well, we’ll be back in sunny and warm Vegas in a week for the Las Vegas Nationals.

It’s kind of weird being at the track with just us and a Pro Mod car. We have the entire place to ourselves; makes us feel like kings. The track has been great, and we want to thank Chris Blair and the entire staff at LVMS for hooking the test up for us. We’re just 81 points out and haven’t used all our test days, so we wanted to take advantage of that and get in some track time, which will hopefully put us in position to race for this ’09 Top Fuel championship at Pomona in a few weeks. Richmond was a great rebound race four our MAR Matco Tools team, and we want to build on that momentum after going to the final round.

After we spend the weekend at home in Indy, we’re heading back to Vegas next Tuesday afternoon. We have a Matco Tools TechEd visit at College of Southern Nevada with our Matco Tools dragster. We enjoy getting out and speaking to the college students and the future mechanics and technicians. It’s awesome for the kids to get an up-close look at our Matco Tools dragster and to ask questions about the race car. And it’s cool for me to meet with the guys that will be working on these dragster in the future. Matco is very dedicated to the future technician and has some great offers for Tech School students, and you can learn more at www.matcotools.com/TechEd.

Then we’re going to the Fan Fest next Thursday evening on Fremont Street. It’s always an awesome turnout for the autograph sessions at both Las Vegas races. We’re calling the Golden Nugget home for the fall Vegas race, so I can walk right out back on to Fremont Street to meet-and-greet with all the fans. I hope all the fans stop by and say hello, and if you’re hungry, the Nugget has some great eats, especially Vic & Anthony’s Steakhouse. It’s outta this world good.

Before we go make another test lap, I’ve gotta give it up for the new NHRA mobile application. It’s available for all the smart phones like the iPhone and my Blackberry. It’s awesome. If you don’t have it, you’ve gotta get it. It’s got news and photos and up-to-the-second stats if you can’t be at the races. For any drag racing junkie, it’s a must.

Like always, love, peace and hair grease, and I’m out like shout.

God bless,

Antron
