Hi everyone. I am sitting in the Dallas airport waiting for my connection to Colorado Springs. I decided to get to Colorado a day earlier than usual so Seth and I could do a little sightseeing. This is one of my favorite races of the year because the track and especially the track owners and operators are so awesome. I love the scenery but have to admit that the heat and the altitude are pretty hard to deal with.
Norwalk was a really fun race, too, except, of course, for the first-round loss. The Thursday before we raced, Seth, some friends and I, all went to Cedar Point to ride the rollercoasters. It was SO much fun. My favorite ride is the Millennium Force. We were in line to ride and it was our turn to get on and all of a sudden they shut it down for mechanical reasons. We sat there waiting for over an hour to ride but when we finally got on ... it was sure worth the wait. It’s funny to me how something can be so scary and so fun at the same time. I guess that’s what being an adrenaline junky is all about.
I do want to mention that the race fans in Norwalk are great. There are a few tracks that we go to that I can tell when the fans really like the Pro Stock motorcycles and Norwalk is one of them. We really do get a warm reception there and the fans are so nice and supportive. That means a lot to us racers. So, on behalf of my Rush Racing Products team as well as all of the motorcycle teams, I want to say thank you!!
Another cool thing that happened in Norwalk was that my helmet painter was there to watch me race. His name is Nick Pastura and he is awesome! I think the paint job on my helmet proves it. His daughter Bailey was there as well so I took her out on stage to driver introductions with me. The kids love to do that. I usually have Arianna or Anson or both with me. Antron’s kids. I can’t wait to have my own with me one day. Nick mentioned to me that he would like to paint a helmet in honor of Andy. I think I am going to wear it for one race and then if I can stand to part with it, I will auction it off on eBay, and donate the money to Andy and the rest of the monkeys at Jungle Friends.
Speaking of Andy and Jungle Friends, I hope you guys got a chance to watch the special on ABC, “The Outsiders”; it was a great story that I am hoping will spread to the people that think having a monkey as a pet is a good idea. Take my advice on this one, it’s a horrible idea. We are going to put the show on YouTube so if you missed it live, you can see it there. I will post a link as soon as it is up. Andy is doing so well in his new home. Kari (Jungle Friends owner and caretaker) sends me updates on a regular basis. He recently had to see the veterinarian to have some dental work done. I made the horrible mistake of letting a veterinarian in Baton Rouge La., remove Andy’s canine teeth. I thought it would be good for my safety. Another BAD decision on my part and a very selfish one, I must admit. Not only was it cruel to do that to him, the vet did a horrible job to boot. She cracked his top canines and didn’t remove the whole tooth. Some of the root was exposed on both top canines and Andy had been suffering without my knowledge for a long time. She told me that he would be fine. I trusted her as a medical professional but I see now that she and any other vet that will remove a monkey’s healthy teeth should NOT be veterinarians!! I was so outraged when Kari called to tell me that Andy had been in pain and had to have surgery to have the rest of the broken teeth extracted! I cried really hard and was so mad at myself all over again for doing what I did to Andy. Fortunately he is all better now and only missing his four canines.
Unlike that poor baby that was featured on “The Outsiders” whose owner had every single one of her teeth pulled so that she can’t bite anyone. Well, she can still bite and she still does. I noticed on the show while the owner was saying how sweet her monkey is, she was biting her fingers the whole time. Monkeys bite. No matter how sweet they are. That is never going to change.
I have to change the subject. I am starting to get upset just thinking of all of it again. I have said it before and I will say it again. I did a horrible thing. I am very, very sorry about what I did and now I am going to do the best I can to fix it and to help educate others about monkeys and where they really belong. In our hearts, not in our homes!
Enough said about that for now.
If you haven’t checked out my website yet, please do so at www.goangelle.com. Seth and I are running the online store as well. We fill the orders and ship them out between races. It’s pretty fun taking care of it myself, being able to help out the team and to personally work with the fans. I am still learning about all of it but things are going pretty smoothly so far.
Well that’s it for now guys, they are boarding my plane so I have to go. I am very excited about getting to Colorado Springs. I don’t have enough time for a Boudreaux joke today cuz I am already so late on my update and I need to get this emailed. So until next time …
God Bless,
Angelle
