Fans of the NHRA Page on Facebook to Determine NHRA’s Greatest Moment
It’s hard to imagine a fan-base that is more connected to its sport’s history than NHRA Drag Racing fans and so it’s a no-brainer to turn over the controls to you, our fans, to decide the 20, 10 and five Greatest Moments before ultimately identifying the moment you believe is the Greatest in NHRA history.
So as we celebrate our 60th anniversary in 2011 – NHRA was founded on March 13, 1951 – we have identified the 60 Greatest Moments and going forward we will ask you to take the responsibility of narrowing the list to 20, 10, 5 and finally 1 Greatest Moment.
Here’s how it will work:
Two to three times per week (on Mondays, Wednesdays and select Fridays) between March 7 and Aug. 17 NHRA will be posting a Greatest Moment on the NHRA Facebook page and at the conclusion of the first stage, after all 60 Moments have been posted, we will identify the Top 20 Moments (based on the total number of weighted ‘likes’).
So whenever you see a post from NHRA that opens with:
** NHRA 60 GREATEST MOMENTS **
that post will contain one of the 60 Greatest Moments; and if it’s a Moment that you like, that you think should be at least among the Top 20 of the 60 Moments, BE SURE TO CLICK THE LIKE BUTTON.
After the Lucas Oil NHRA Nationals in Brainerd, the Top 20 moments will be identified and, just as the Top 10 drivers will be determined at the Mac Tools U.S. Nationals, the fans’ Top 10 Moments will be as well. Fans will have from the Monday after Brainerd to the end of the U.S. Nationals to vote on the Moments they believe were the ‘Greatest’ and the 10 Moments with the most fan votes will be announced at the conclusion of the Mac Tools US Nationals.
The Greatest Moments voting will then have its own playoffs, as one moment will be eliminated at each of the first five playoff races, leaving five still in play entering the season-ending Auto Club NHRA Finals. Fan voting will close prior to the start of the Auto Club NHRA Finals and the fans’ Top 5 will be unveiled during the Finals weekend.
NHRA fans will also have the chance to relive each of the “60 Greatest Moments” via NHRA’s “60 Greatest Moments DVD.”.
