NHRA West Central Division Summit Racing Finals revs up
TOPEKA, Kan. - The best of the best in the NHRA's West Central Division Summit Racing Series have come to Heartland Park Topeka to compete for individual as well as team honors at the 2007 Summit Racing Series Division Finals. The event will continue Saturday and Sunday. Drivers in Super Pro, Pro, Sportsman and Motorcycle/Snowmobile as well as a High School Eliminator category will be competing for top honors and a share of the $15,950. Competitors in the High School Eliminator class are running for trophies and other awards. Gates at Heartland Park Topeka open at 8 a.m. Saturday and Sunday. Time trials continue Saturday at 9 a.m. and eliminations start Sunday morning at 9. Saturday's action will feature the Race of Champions, a race within a race that will pit the top points-earning drivers from each track in head-to-head competition. First round of elimination in the Race of Champions starts after the first rotation of time trials on Saturday. Sunday's winners in Super Pro, Pro, Sportsman, and Motorcycle/Snowmobile will advance to a national run-off in November at the NHRA Auto Club of Southern California Finals at Pomona Raceway in Pomona, Calif. Each category winner will square off against the NHRA Summit Finals champions from NHRA's other six divisions for a winner-take-all $5,000 purse.
