ENNIS, Texas - Texas Motorplex will host the 2007 NHRA South Central Division Summit Racing Series Finals, October 5-7. Top drivers from NHRA member tracks across the South Central division will compete in five classes for individual and team honors. Individual champions in No-Electronic Quick, No-Electronic Street, Motorcycle and either Super Pro or Pro will advance to a run-off against the winners from NHRA's other six divisions at the Auto Club of Southern California NHRA Finals in Pomona, Calif., in November. (The winners in Super Pro and Pro have a runoff to determine who will compete in Pomona.)

Participants in the top classes will compete for cash awards of $25,950. Drivers who advance to the run-off will each receive $3,500 and the champions in each class will earn $5,000. Competitors in the High School class will earn trophies.

The team from Thunder Valley Raceway Park in Noble, Okla., won the team championship last year at the Texas Motorplex. Individual winners were Jeff Lopez in Super Pro, Brian Hughes in Pro, Jeff Hefler in No-Electronic Quick, Martin Brown in No-Electronic Street, and Micheal Nash in Motorcycle.

Gates at Texas Motorplex open at 8 a.m. each day and time trials begin at 9 a.m. Friday and Saturday. The Race of Champions, a race within a race where the top points-earning drivers from each track square off in head-to-head competition, will run first round of eliminations at 1 p.m. Saturday, and all classes will run first round of eliminations afterward. WHERE: Texas Motorplex, Ennis, Texas. Track is located on Hwy. 287, two miles west of Ennis between Interstates 35 and 45. From Dallas, take I-45 to Hwy. 287 west to the track, or take I-35E to Hwy. 287 east to the track. From Fort Worth, take Hwy. 287 east to Waxahachie toward the track.

SATURDAY, Oct. 6 -- Gates open at 8 a.m. Final time trials begin at 9 a.m. Eliminations for the Race of Champions will start at 1 p.m. First round of eliminations for all classes will follow.

SUNDAY, Oct. 7 -- Gates open at 8 a.m. Eliminations continue at 9 a.m.

Saturday, the Race of Champions, a special race within a race, will feature top points-earning drivers from each participating race track in head-to-head competition.
