BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - Dan Beebe took the win in Super Pro and Victor Silva won in Pro today at Auto Club Famoso Dragway for the NHRA Summit Racing Series Pacific Division Race of Champions.

Beebe, of Porterville, Calif., and running for home track Auto Club Famoso Dragway, took out James Sasser of Las Vegas with a run of 8.093 seconds at 159.23 mph. Sasser, driving a '72 Pinto, clocked in at 11.477 seconds at 112.42 mph in his final round effort.

Silva, representing Redding Dragstrip in Redding, Calif., put his '69 Mustang in the winner's circle with a run of 11.220 mph at 105.52 mph in his win over John Hindley Jr. out of Tucson, Ariz. Hindley ran a quicker but loosing 10.920 seconds at 121.31 mph in his Cuda.

Irwindale Dragstrip joined in on the fun when Willie Hoefer, running for the Irwindale, Calif., track, claimed the win in Sportsman with a lap of 13.299 seconds at 100.82 mph. Hoefer faced off with Don Graham out of Arizona City, Ariz.

Phillip Nasca and Montana Trimp rounded out today's winners with Nasca taking out Craig Wood on a holeshot and a run of 9.454 seconds at 133.23 on his GSXR. Trimp picked up the win in the High School category over Hilary Harlan. The Ione, Calif., resident raced to a 13.262 second pass at 94.34 mph for the win.

Today's Race of Champions winners in Super Pro, Pro, Sportsman, and Motorcycle all advance to the National Championship held during the Auto Club NHRA Finals in Pomona, Calif., where they will face off against winner's from the other six NHRA divisions across the country. The Summit National Championship posts a purse of $118,000 with each National Champion taking home $8,500, the coveted NHRA Wally Trophy, and bragging rights for the year.
