NHRA West Central Summit Finals get underway in Topeka
TOPEKA, Kan. - The NHRA West Central Division Summit Finals began today at Heartland Park Topeka with the top racers in the region competing for individual and team honors. Racers in Super Pro, Pro, Sportsman, Super Pro Bike, and High School categories are vying for a share of a $16,000 cash award, while the High School winner will win a scholarship award.
The Race of Champions, a race within a race, will take place on Saturday with eliminations starting at 1 p.m. Track Champions that earned the most points at their respective track will compete against other top point earners for a cash purse.
Individual winners will advance to compete against winners from NHRA's other six competing divisions at the NHRA Finals in Pomona, Calif., in November. Each racer also receives an extra $3500 just for competing in Pomona.
Gates open Saturday and Sunday at 8 a.m. Racing starts Saturday at 9 a.m. with the Race of Champions eliminations beginning at 1 p.m.
