NHRA South Central Division Summit Finals begin in Texas
ENNIS, Texas - The best bracket racers across the South Central Division converged on Texas Motorplex today for the NHRA Summit Finals at Texas Motorplex. Racers are competing for individual and team honors in the categories of No-Electronic Quick, No-Electronic Street, Motorcycle, Super Pro and Pro. Winners of the individual categories will advance to a run-off against the winners from NHRA's other six divisions at the Auto Club of Southern California NHRA Finals in Pomona, Calif. Super Pro and Pro winners will have a runoff at Texas Motorplex to determine who will compete in Pomona.
The 2005 team winner, Houston Raceway Park in Baytown, will defend it's title, while the home track, Texas Motorplex, look to knock them out. Other past winners include, Eric Sandlin in Super Pro, Jackie Jones in Pro, Chris Wood in No-Electronic Quick, Donna White in No-Electronic Street and Eric Cook in Motorcycle.
The Race of Champions, a race within a race, takes place on Saturday with eliminations beginning at 1 p.m. The racers that earned the most points at their tracks face off against each other. Eliminations for individual championships begin on Sunday.
