Rain postpones racing at U.S. 13 Dragway until Sunday

DELMAR, Del. - The final eliminations at the NHRA Northeast Division Summit Racing Series Finals taking place this weekend at U.S. 13 Dragway have been postponed until tomorrow due to rain.

Tomorrow, the individual championships in Super, Heavy E.T., Street and Motorcycle/Snowmobile will be crowned. Those winners qualify for the NHRA Summit Racing Series National Finals, which will take place in November during the NHRA Finals at Pomona Raceway. In Pomona, the Northeast Division champs will join champions from NHRA's six other geographic regions to compete for national championships. Last year a pair of Northeast Division racers, Mark Butler of Elkton, Md., and Vinnie Cicerale of Piscataway, N.J., claimed the Summit Racing Series National Championship titles in Pro and Sportsman.

Sunday will also feature eliminations for the competitors in the High School Eliminator Challenge presented by Luzerne County Community College. The winner of the eliminator will receive a $1000 U.S. Savings Bond, jacket and trophy.

Gates at U.S. 13 Dragway open Sunday at 7 a.m. with eliminations set to continue at 8:30 a.m. For more information contact U.S. 13 Dragway at (302) 846-3968 or visit them on the web at www.DelawareRacing.com. More information may also be obtained by visiting www.nhra.com.
