Wilson signs Torco Race Fuels as primary sponsor for two-car assault

1/06/2004

Jeff Wilson

Defending Division 3 Top Alcohol Dragster Champion Jeff Wilson has announced the signing of Torco Race Fuels as primary sponsor for the team's two-car assault for the NHRA Lucas Oil World Championship in 2004. Wilson will continue to pilot his Championship-winning blown alcohol dragster, which will be tuned by Top Alcohol Funny Car hitters Marc and Tim White, and debut an A/Fuel Dragster tuned by nitro veteran Al Meade to compete when conditions favor the injected-nitro combination.

Wilson feels the support of Torco Race Fuels and the availability of both combinations has put him in the best position he's ever had to win a World Championship.

"We are excited to bring Torco Race Fuels on board as a primary sponsor this season," said Wilson. "We look forward to defending our Division 3 title and making a run for the world title. With the addition of the A/Fuel combination, our new Spitzer chassis with the new one-piece carbon fiber bodies and the new Mickey Thompson 36-inch tire, we definitely have the hardware in place to accomplish that goal. With Marc and Tim White tuning the blown car and Al Meade tuning the nitro car, we have the people in place as well."

"We plan to start the year in Pomona with the blown car," continued Wilson. "Until we get the A/Fuel car to the point where we think it is a player, we will continue to run the blown car. If we get the A/Fueler going before the weather gets hot, we'll start running it. We plan to run the blown car again during the hot summer months in Division 3 and bring the A/Fueler back out when the weather starts cooling down. Given the current rules, we feel this is the best way to win a World Championship right now."

"We are proud to be associated with Wilson Racing for the upcoming 2004 season," stated Evan Knoll, owner and president of Torco Race Fuels. "He and his team represent themselves, their sponsors and the sport very well. We are confident that Torco Race Fuels will benefit from the exposure that we and our distributors will receive from being associated with such a competitive race team, thus creating a win-win situation for both parties."

In addition to Torco Race Fuels, Wilson will continue to receive support from STARCON, who has been with the team for the past five years. The team will continue to receive chassis assistance from Spitzer Race Cars and Spitzer Composites and tire assistance from Mickey Thompson Tires.
