Grubnic to pilot Red Line Oil dragster in Sonoma and Chicago

7/26/2004

Dave Grubnic

Top Fuel racer Dave Grubnic will drive the Red Line Oil dragster at national events in Sonoma and Chicago to help the California-based company celebrate its 25th anniversary.

The specially-painted Red Line Oil Top Fuel dragster will accompany Kalitta Motorsports' two other Top Fuel entries, which are sponsored by Mac Tools and driven by cousins Doug and Scott Kalitta at both events.

"We need to thank everyone at Kalitta Motorsports and especially Connie Kalitta for providing this sponsorship opportunity," said Tim Kerrigan, president of Red Line Oil. "To increase our program in our 25th anniversary year is special, but to debut the car at our home race is even better. Our employees, customers, and dealers feel that Dave Grubnic, Doug Kalitta, and Scott Kalitta are great drivers to represent our products. It should be a great weekend and the upcoming race in Chicago should provide for a strong outing, too."

Grubnic, a journeyman Top Fuel driver, is in his first season behind the wheel of the third Kalitta team car. The native of Brisbane, Australia, has been driving nitro rails in the United States since 1995. He has been No.1 qualifier four times this season at consecutive events in Phoenix and Gainesville and again at consecutive events in Atlanta and Chicago. He has made two final round appearances thus far in 2004 at St. Louis and Seattle. He is currently fifth in NHRA Top Fuel championship points.

"This is such a great partnership," Grubnic said. "Red Line Oil has been involved with Kalitta Motorsports for several years now and it's really fantastic that we are able to run these two races under their banner. Their support for our team and our sport is tremendous. This is just another step in the right direction for both of us."

Red Line Synthetic Oil Corporation, based in Benicia, Calif., manufactures over 80 quality products, including motor oils, gear oils, assembly lubes, fuel additives, and its popular WaterWetter cooling additive for the automotive, motorcycle, marine, and industrial markets.
