Jeg's adds 'Double-up Bonus' to Jeg's Allstars Race

1/28/2004

Jeg's Automotive, Inc. announced today an exciting new enhancement to the annual Jeg's Allstars Race. The company will offer a "Jeg's Double-Up Bonus" to all of the 64 competitors who compete in the prestigious special event.

The Jeg's Allstars Race is contested annually at the fall event at Chicago's Route 66 Raceway. This year, the prestigious race-within-a-race program will celebrate 20 years of pitting the best racers from coast-to-coast against one another.

The racers in the eight NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series categories from each of NHRA's seven geographic regions compete for team and individual honors and a share of the $100,000 purse in the Jeg's Allstars Race. The winning division splits $20,000 for earning the team title. Winners in Top Alcohol Dragster and Top Alcohol Funny Car categories earn $7,000 each, while the winners in Competition Eliminator and Super Stock pocket $6,000 apiece. Super Comp, Super Gas, and Super Street winners each take home $4,500. Runners-up in all categories receive $2,000 per person.

If a competitor wins the Jeg's Allstars Race in their respective class they will become eligible to earn the "Jeg's Double-Up Bonus," which literally doubles the amount of money they won for claiming their class trophy in the Allstars race. To earn the bonus, competitors must win the Jeg's Allstars Race and the NHRA national event being run that weekend in the same class.

"We are excited to make this enhancement to the Jeg's Allstars Race and add some more fun to the program," said Scott Woodruff, director of motorsports marketing and public relations for Jeg's. "Our involvement in this program has been well received by the competitors each year and the NHRA support has been great.

"The NHRA competition committee recently announced dropping the CIC index penalty for Competition Eliminator beginning this year. Adding that with the new double-up bonus program elevates the most prestigious event to a new level."

Jeg's Automotive, Inc., with world headquarters in Delaware, Ohio, is a leading supplier of automotive and auto racing parts and equipment. Jeg's was founded in 1960 by Jeg Coughlin Sr., in an effort to supply the growing needs of customers throughout the Midwest. In 1986, Jeg's became a leader in the high performance mail order business when the Coughlin brothers (John, Troy, Mike, and Jeg Jr.) purchased Jeg's with the assistance of their father. Jeg's is a leader in the after-market high performance business and has grown into a multimillion dollar company by providing customers what they want, when they want it, at the price they want to pay – backed by the best customer service.
