Perfectly Strange bonus program in second year
2/1/2004
The NHRA Perfectly Strange Performance Awards program, a nonproduct-contingent program designed to reward NHRA Super Stock, Stock, Super Comp, Super Gas, and Super Street racers for their winning performances, will return in 2004.
Sponsored by Strange Engineering, which for more than 40 years has manufactured quality products for the motorsports industry, rewards a minimum of $250 to racers who run exactly on their dial or index in a winning round of competition during any of the 23 NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series national events.
"In our second year of a three-year commitment, we anticipate the same kind of excitement and competition for these specific NHRA Sportsman racers to succeed in their quest to 'run right on the number,' " said Strange Engineering's John Mazzarella.
Eligible entries must carry the official NHRA Perfectly Strange Performance Award decals on both sides of the race vehicle. The decals are available from NHRA and its division offices and from Strange Engineering. Racers who accomplish the feat while using Strange Pro Race axles and/or Strange Pro Race struts and display the proper NHRA/Strange contingency decals will receive a double bonus. In addition to prize money, winners will receive an exclusive "Winners Only" collectors hat.
Should the cash award go unclaimed in any one or more of the five categories, the unclaimed portion is added to the payout for the next event until claimed. Strange Engineering paid racers 57 times in 2003. David Rampy claimed the largest rollover amount, $3,500, for his Stock performance in Columbus.
Winners in the divisional NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series will be awarded a "Winners Only" collectors hat as many times as they run right on their dial or index in a winning round of competition. No money will be awarded.
