NHRA policy on Restricted Area Pass guidelines

3/30/2004

At nearly every NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series event, NHRA security confiscates a Restricted Area Pass that is not being used by the appropriate individual. This has been on on-going problem over the last few seasons and only seems to be escalating. Therefore, the NHRA Competition Department has issued the following reminder to all individuals who sign a waiver form for restricted area access.

Under NHRA's guidelines, only the individual to whom the Restricted Area Pass was issued may use it. Restricted Area Passes that are lost or stolen must be reported to the NHRA Waiver Center without delay, and, in the event the Waiver Center is closed, it must be reported to Racer Registration.

The Notice And Warning To Credential Holder information that can be found on the reverse side of the event credentials or NHRA hard-card passes clearly states that the passes or cards are not for resale and are non-transferable. Also, the credential holder is subject to $500 fine for unauthorized use, which includes, but is not limited to, any individual transferring his/her Restricted Area Pass to another individual and it is used to gain access into a restricted area.

When an individual is found with an unauthorized Restricted Area Pass, it is immediately confiscated. The individual to whom the pass was originally issued will receive the fine that also includes the suspension of all competition privileges at NHRA events or NHRA-operated racing facilities until the fine is paid in full.

This practice of allowing other individuals access to Restricted Areas without proper documentation jeopardizes NHRA and the insurability of the sport at all levels.
