The NHRA expanded its member track program, signing eight new drag racing facilities to membership agreements, it was announced today by NHRA officials.

The eight facilities are located in the in the Southeast, North Central, South Central, West Central and Northwest divisions and all will participate in the NHRA Summit Drag Racing Series and the NHRA O'Reilly Auto Parts Jr. Drag Racing League.

"We continue to move forward with our track membership program and welcome these facilities to the NHRA family," said Tom Compton, NHRA president. "These eight tracks join the growing number of facilities that endorse and showcase NHRA grassroots programs. With the programs and services NHRA provides to member tracks, we are constantly expanding our presence in various markets and promoting the safe and exciting drag racing that the NHRA is known for."

The North Central division is adding three new member tracks. Thompson Drag Raceway, located northeast of Cleveland, is the lone quarter-mile drag strip to join the division. Midstate Dragway in Havana, Ill., and E.T. Raceway in Bloomfield, Ind., are two eighth-mile tracks joining the NHRA.

Rusk, Texas, is the home of the South Central division's newest quarter-mile facility. Cherokee County Motorsports Park joins the NHRA and will host one of the divisional events that make up the Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series. The eighth-mile drag strip at Houston Motorsports Park also joins the division.

The Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series also will make a stop at the newest member track of the Southeast division, South Georgia Motor Sports Park near Valdosta, Ga., approximately 60 miles northeast of Tallahassee, Fla.

The West Central division will be joined by Oahe Speedway in Pierre, S.D., while Bonanza Dragway in Walla Walla, Wash., is the newest member of the Northwest division. Oahe Speedway houses a quarter-mile drag strip while Bonanza Dragway features an eight-mile race track.
