Mopar's Corvo looks to cash in during U.S. Nationals

Indianapolis, pre-race: For Team Mopar Pro Stock driver Mike Corvo Jr., the weeks leading up to the Mac Tools U.S. Nationals have been a blur. Driving for Johnson & Johnson Racing since Darrell Alderman announced his sabbatical prior to the Mopar Mile-High Nationals, Corvo is definitely looking forward to competing in his first "Big Go" as part of a factory-backed team.

"Not only am I thrilled to be a part of a factory-backed team heading into the U.S. Nationals, but I'm very excited to be a part of Mopar's effort," Corvo said. "To be able to run with proper factory support is something I look forward to, as it gives us a good opportunity to run well. We tested in St. Louis prior to the event, and we've got a good chance to perform at the top of our ability in Indianapolis this weekend."

Corvo, a Pro Stock competitor since 2001, was asked by team owner Allen Johnson to run his team's second car just prior to the Mopar Mile-High Nationals event in July. The agreement has extended beyond the event on a race-to-race basis, and Corvo is quick to credit Johnson & Johnson Racing in assisting with his transition into the team's routine.

"For me, coming to be part of Johnson & Johnson Racing has been an absolutely seamless transition," Corvo said. "Right away, I realized that this is a good, family-oriented team. Everyone gets along with one another all of the time, which is vital to how a team performs. Their dedication has made this move a very simple one."

Corvo has two goals for the event this weekend: to qualify and to win as many rounds as possible. With his team owner and fellow driver Johnson as an ally, Corvo is ready to hit the line at Indianapolis Raceway Park.

"We'd like to meet two goals this weekend," Corvo said. "We want to qualify both cars well, because you have to qualify in order to race. In each event, you've got two races: the race to qualify and the actual race. With two cars to share information from, I think we'll be in a good position to finish well this weekend."
