Indianapolis, pre-race: In 18 years of professional NHRA Drag Racing there is one race that Steve Johnson wants most to win, this weekend's 50th annual Mac Tools U.S. Nationals. It's the biggest, most prestigious drag race on the planet. Teams from all over the United States come to this race.
Johnson and his K&N Filters/Snap-on Tools team tested there one week ago with some great results.
"The wallet opens up for what ever you need at this race," said Johnson. "All of our Vance and Hines engines are fresh, our TL1000 is fresh with new Mickey Thompson rubber and my brain is free of anything but winning.
"Our goal is to qualify in the top half of the field and win rounds on Monday. If we can get to the semifinals, anything can happen."
