NHRA Northwest Division's best Summit Racing Series drivers converge in Ashcroft

ASHCROFT, B.C. - Nl'Akapxm Eagle Motorplex will host the NHRA Northwest division Summit Racing Series Finals Sept. 5-7, 2003. More than 500 drivers in seven classes from NHRA member tracks from across the Northwest division will compete for team and individual honors as well as a share of a purse of more than $10,500. Drivers in the High School class and two Junior categories will race for trophies.

Winners of the Race of Champions event, where the top points earners in the Super Pro, Pro, Sportsman and Motorcycle/Snowmobile classes from each track compete in a race-within-a-race, will also earn the opportunity to compete at the NHRA Finals in Pomona, Calif. They will run against champions from NHRA's other six divisions for a national title and a $5,000 winner-takes-all payday.

Gates at Nl'Akapxm Eagle Motorplex open at 7 a.m. each day and time trials start at 8 a.m. Friday and continue Saturday at 8 a.m. The Northwest division Race of Champions, a race within the race, will start at 1 p.m. Saturday. Eliminations begin Sunday at 8 a.m.

SUMMIT RACING SERIES NORTHWEST DIVISION FINALS: Fact Sheet

WHAT: Summit Racing Series, where top drivers from NHRA member tracks across the Northwest division compete in seven classes for individual and team honors. Individual champions will advance to a national run-off at the NHRA Auto Club of Southern California Finals in November at Pomona Raceway in Calif.

WHERE: Nl'Akapxm Eagle Motorplex, Ashcroft, B.C. Track is located six kilometers south of Cache Creek, B.C., on TransCanada Highway 1.

WHEN: Friday through Sunday, Sept. 5-7, 2003.

SCHEDULE: Time trials schedule for the Summit Racing Series Northwest Division Finals:

FRIDAY, Sept. 5 -- Gates open at 7 a.m. Time trials begin at 8 a.m.

SATURDAY, Sept. 6 -- Gates open at 7 a.m. Final time trials begin at 8 a.m. Race of Champions begins at 1 p.m.

SUNDAY, Sept. 7 -- Gates open at 7 a.m. Eliminations begin at 8 a.m.

PURSE: The Summit E.T. Racing Series competitors in Super Pro, Pro, Sportsman and Motorcycle will compete for cash awards of $10,600. The winners in each category will advance to compete against winners from NHRA's other six divisions at the NHRA Finals in Pomona, Calif., in November. Those racers will each receive $3,500 for advancing to the Finals and the winner in each class will receive an additional $5,000.

Participants in the High School and Junior categories compete for trophies.
