Select Sportsman engine moratorium still valid

1/27/2003

In an effort to help control escalating long-term costs in the sportsman categories, the NHRA Tech department is re-emphasizing that an engine moratorium on new engine designs in still in place for Top Alcohol Dragster, Top Alcohol Funny Car, and the Pro Modified class of Comp eliminator.

Only those engine combinations that utilize cylinder blocks and head designs that were in NHRA competition prior to the April 1, 2001 moratorium are permitted. The moratorium will remain in place until further official notice.

Contact the NHRA Tech department for a complete list of cylinder blocks and head designs that are currently used in NHRA competition.
