Bradshaw and Meyer team up for 2003 title assault

When you put the quickest A/Fuel Dragster on the planet with one of the quickest drivers in the category, you have a dangerous combination. Such is possibly the case with the announcement of defending Division 5 Top Alcohol Dragster Champ Alan "Quick Draw" Bradshaw taking over the driving duties of Randy Meyer's A/Fuel Dragster. The duo plans to make an all out assault for this year's Top Alcohol Dragster title.
Bradshaw, who is a practicing chiropractor in Odessa, Texas, campaigned his own blown alcohol dragster last season, winning the Division 5 crown. Following the Division 5 awards banquet in January, he and Meyer decided to combine resources this season.
"I was contacted by a number of drivers over the winter who wanted the seat," Meyer stated. "Alan Bradshaw was the best choice, by far. He's got a great ability in the car, and he's got a real desire to win. His Division 5 Championship in 2002 makes him a proven winner. To have a talented driver who knows his way around the car is an added bonus. I'm excited about 2003."
"We started talking about the possibility of teaming up at the awards banquet in Kansas at the first of this year," said Bradshaw. "I felt like it was a great opportunity to drive for a top caliber team such as Randy Meyer Racing and the timing couldn't have been any better, considering the nitro cars' performances and consistency have come so far just in this past season. It is evident that these cars are here to stay and will continue to be a major contender for the National championship in the years to come."
Bradshaw, who previously drove a blown alcohol combination, feels the switch will be a fairly smooth transition with the experience of Randy Meyer and his team.
"I don't really think learning to drive the car will be that much of an issue," cited Bradshaw. "If anything, it should be easier than the blown car, but there are many ways you have to finesse these A/Fuelers down a track and that is something I will have to learn how to do pretty fast if we are going to stay on target for the national title trophy. When you look at the opportunity, it's really exciting. I have a shot at stepping into the car that ran 5.13 and 5.17 last year. All that being said, we look to be a team to be reckoned with for the World Championship."
"My joining Randy Meyer Racing is a positive step in the right direction," Bradshaw continued. "After all, winning championships is what it's all about and you better have what it takes to win. I'm sure most of my blown alcohol competitors will give me a hard time, but that's the way it goes. You do whatever it takes to be a champion and that's exactly what I've done by putting myself in the baddest hot rod to try to win a Top Alcohol Dragster National Championship. I'm going to give it all I've got, and Randy's going to turn up the wick, so we'll just have to see what happens."
The team will make their first appearance at the Division 4 Lucas Oil Drag Racing series opener, Feb. 28-Mar. 2, in Houston, Texas.
