Texas Motorplex
Texas Motorplex is known as the father of modern drag racing supertracks. When it opened in May 1986, the facility introduced to the sport the first modern, and only, all-concrete quarter-mile surface and the first wraparound tower. In 1997, Cory McClenathan recorded drag racing’s first 320-mph run, and in 1999, the then-quickest side-by-side Funny Car race took place between John Force and Tommy Johnson Jr. (4.82 to 4.84). Last year, Doug Kalitta’s Top Fuel win was the 500th such victory in NHRA history since 1963. Del Worsham, who licensed at the Motorplex in Funny Car in 1990, won here for the first time. Jeg Coughlin Jr. won Pro Stock for the third straight event and seventh in the last 10 events.

HOW TO GET THERE: The track is located on Highway 287, two miles west of Ennis between Interstates 35 and 45. From Dallas, take I-45 to Highway 287 west to the track, or take I-35E to Highway 287 east to the track. From Fort Worth, take Highway 287 east to Waxahachie and continue to the track.
