Results for Elimination Round 1
JOLIET, Ill. - SUMMIT FastNews - Results of round 1 eliminations in Pro Stock at the NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series, Third annual CARQUEST Auto Parts NHRA Nationals:
 W/L Driver RT ET Speed

 (W) Darrell Alderman (Mopar Parts Stratus) 0.029 8.683 109.10
 (L) Mike Edwards (Young Life Grand Am) -0.010(R) 6.749 203.19
These two qualified with identical e.t.'s so this one should come down to reaction time. Yep. Edwards is too early, and Alderman shuts off after getting out of the groove.
 (W) Kurt Johnson (AC Delco Cavalier) 0.024 6.769 204.17
 (L) Troy Coughlin (Jeg's Mail Order Cavalier) 0.021 6.826 202.67
It's a classic Coughlin vs. Johnson match-up here. It's KJ thanks to his best run of the event.
 (W) Bruce Allen (Reher-Morrison Grand Am) 0.015 6.777 202.27
 (L) Allen Johnson (J&J Racing Stratus) 0.060 6.837 202.33
These two were in the water when Johnson decided to swap lanes. That strategy did not pay off, as Allen was quicker off the line and was quicker at every incremental, including a .972 short time.
 (W) Jim Yates (Splitfire/Peak Grand Am) 0.020 6.769 202.67
 (L) Gene Wilson (Mopar Parts Stratus) 0.001 6.791 202.91
Wilson was brilliant at the Tree, but Yates was right behind him and had enough power to drive around him.

Jim Yates' MOV: 0.0037 seconds (approximately 13 inches).

 (W) Larry Morgan (Mopar Parts Stratus) 0.055 6.780 204.11
 (L) Jason Line (Ken Black Racing Cavalier) 0.067 6.774 204.35
Holeshot! The veteran takes out the rookie with a slightly better light.

Larry Morgan's incremental margins: 60ft(0.017), 330 ft(0.013), 660ft(0.011), 1,000ft(0.008). MOV: 0.0065 seconds (approximately 23 inches).

 (W) Warren Johnson (GM Performance Parts Grand A0.011 6.784 203.77
 (L) Steve Schmidt (Steve Schmidt Competition Eng0.070 6.819 202.73
Great light for WJ, and despite a little wiggle early in the run makes his second best run of the race. He loses lane choice to Allen in round two.
 (W) Greg Anderson (Vegas General Constr Grand Am0.011 6.722 204.82
 (L) Mark Whisnant (RW Performance Cavalier) -0.017(R) 6.808 203.31
Easy win for Anderson as he lays down low e.t. of the event. He'll have lance choice over Alderman in the next round.
 (W) Jeg Coughlin (Jeg's Mail Order Cavalier) 0.017 6.723 203.40
 (L) Ron Krisher (Valvoline Cavalier) 0.104 6.762 203.46
Krisher was very late, but it doesn't matter as Jeg makes his best run of the weekend. He'll have lance choice over Kurt Johnson in round two.

Results for Elimination Round 2
JOLIET, Ill. - SUMMIT FastNews - Results of round 2 eliminations in Pro Stock at the NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series, Third annual CARQUEST Auto Parts NHRA Nationals:
 W/L Driver RT ET Speed

 (W) Bruce Allen (Reher-Morrison Grand Am) 0.017 6.801 201.70
 (L) Warren Johnson (GM Performance Parts Grand A0.091 6.753 204.45
1:45 p.m. Allen comes in with lane choice, and both drivers were sharp on the Tree in round one, so this should be good.

And it is. WJ was late, and Allen moved around a bit, but WJ ran out of race track.

Bruce Allen's incremental margins: 60ft(0.090), 330 ft(0.082), 660ft(0.060), 1,000ft(0.042). MOV: 0.0261 seconds (approximately 8 feet).

 (W) Larry Morgan (Mopar Parts Stratus) 0.021 6.750 203.95
 (L) Jim Yates (Splitfire/Peak Grand Am) 0.039 6.772 203.06
Morgan won last round on a holeshot and Yates almost lost on a holeshot (even though he had a great .020 light) so keep an eye on reaction time in this one.

After a 30 second staging battle, Morgan drills the Tree and outruns Yates.

 (W) Jeg Coughlin (Jeg's Mail Order Cavalier) 0.012 6.748 202.82
 (L) Kurt Johnson (AC Delco Cavalier) 0.019 6.796 204.01
Before pulling into the water, Coughlin's crew had the hood off. Apparently the car backfired when Jeg started it. Must not be a problem, as he does a nice burnout.

This one's all Jeg, as leaves on KJ and outruns him the whole way down. Jeg will have lane choice over Allen in the semi's.

 (W) Greg Anderson (Vegas General Constr Grand Am0.015 6.729 204.85
 (L) Darrell Alderman (Mopar Parts Stratus) 0.015 6.764 203.74
After a dead-even start, Anderson drives away from Alderman and will face another Mopar--Morgan--in the semi's, Anderson with lane choice.

Results for Elimination Round 3
JOLIET, Ill. - SUMMIT FastNews - Results of round 3 eliminations in Pro Stock at the NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series, Third annual CARQUEST Auto Parts NHRA Nationals:
 W/L Driver RT ET Speed

 (W) Jeg Coughlin (Jeg's Mail Order Cavalier) 0.011 6.723 203.28
 (L) Bruce Allen (Reher-Morrison Grand Am) 0.090 6.741 203.83
Coughlin is looking to go to his second straight final after finishing second at Memphis. These two have been stellar on the Tree, the worst light between them is .017.

Allen misses badly at the Tree, and Jeg runs his second 6.723 of the day to win going away.

 (W) Greg Anderson (Vegas General Constr Grand Am0.019 6.735 204.48
 (L) Larry Morgan (Mopar Parts Stratus) 0.001 6.769 203.92
Morgan was brilliant at the Tree, but Anderson has too much power and drives around him. It will be a rematch of Memphis, Coughlin with lane choice.

Greg Anderson's incremental margins (negative if behind): 60ft(-0.018), 330 ft(0.002), 660ft(0.011), 1,000ft(0.015). MOV: 0.0165 seconds (approximately 5 feet).

Results for Final Round
JOLIET, Ill. - SUMMIT FastNews - Results of final, round 4 eliminations in Pro Stock at the NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series, Third annual CARQUEST Auto Parts NHRA Nationals:
 W/L Driver RT ET Speed

 (W) Jeg Coughlin (Jeg's Mail Order Cavalier) 0.010 6.749 203.22
 (L) Greg Anderson (Vegas General Constr Grand Am-0.001(R) 6.728 204.91
This is the third time these two have faced off this year in the final with Greg winning just last Monday in the rain-delayed Memphis race and Jeg won in Sonoma. Anderson was just a tick too quick and Jeg with the win. Anderson with the quicker E.T., but it doesn't matter. This is Jeg's second win of the season in five round appearances.
