Memphis Motorsports Park
Memphis Motorsports Park has hosted the O’Reilly Mid-South Nationals since its inception in 1988. Last year, Larry Dixon, who dominated the first half of the season, won Top Fuel again for the eighth time after not winning in the previous eight events. He avenged his final-round loss to Tony Schumacher at the Mac Tools U.S. Nationals, defeating him for the first time in three final-round pairings in 2002. Tony Pedregon won his second of three straight Funny Car finals, defeating Del Worsham in the title round. Pro Stock winner Jeg Coughlin Jr. continued the winning streak that would make him the season champion. He defeated first-time NHRA finalist Gene Wilson and his Neon.
