Results for Qualifying Round 1
MOHNTON, Pa. - READING - Notes from round 1 qualifying in Pro Stock Bike at the NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series, 19th annual Lucas Oil NHRA Nationals listing lane, rider name, elapsed time, top speed, and position in order following run:
     Right Lane: Todd Doege       Runs 7.297/188.10, Now #1
8:57 pm - The first session of Pro Stock Bike qualifying started after a five and a half hour delay because of a slow, steady rain. At the start of this session, the air temperature was 63 degrees, humidity was 73 percent and the barometric pressure was 30.19 and steady.

Doege was riding the Kawasaki that had been ridden by John Smith before he had his non-racing accident. Doege took it right down the middle of the lane in a smooth run.

      Left Lane: Michael Iantorno No Time, Now #3
     Right Lane: Don DeTurck      No Time, Now #2
DeTurck broke as soon as he launched and pulled over to the side of the track. Iantorno had a smooth run with the front wheel a few inches off the ground for the first couple hundred feet but he did not get a time because he left before the tree.
      Left Lane: Josh Helvie      Runs 7.407/181.15, Now #2
     Right Lane: Bruce Dickson    Runs 11.896/66.51, Now #3
Dickson sat at the starting line for more than two seconds after the light turned green. When he finally got started, he missed a shift halfway down the track. Helvie had a clean run.
      Left Lane: Sam Hurwitz      No Time, Now #20
     Right Lane: Ryan Schnitz     Runs 7.390/178.07, Now #8
Hurwitz left before the tree was activated. Schnitz had a clean run down the middle of his lane.
      Left Lane: Connie Cohen     Runs 7.389/166.93, Now #8
     Right Lane: Lloyd Straus     Runs 7.791/136.66, Now #11
Cohen had a good run. Straus had a slow start and missed a shift.
      Left Lane: Redell Harris    No Time, Now #24
     Right Lane: Wesley Wells     Runs 10.397/75.51, Now #14
Harris left before the tree was activated. Wells missed a shift and took the engine up to its rev limiter.
      Left Lane: Tommy Grimes Jr  Runs 7.332/176.74, Now #3
     Right Lane: Matthew Smith    Runs 7.300/178.59, Now #2
This was a pair of good runs. Both bikes carried the front wheel for the first few hundred feet, then settled in the rest of the way down the track.
      Left Lane: Chris Reuter     Runs 17.270/39.87, Now #7
     Right Lane: Blaine Hale      Runs 7.242/185.31, Now #1
Reuter spun the rear tire and had a problem with his first shift. Hale's run was clean from start to finish.
      Left Lane: Sean Conner      Runs 8.728/105.75, Now #7
     Right Lane: Michael Phillips Runs 7.174/187.50, Now #1
Conner had a problem before he reached mid track and slowed. Phillips had a smooth run the whole way down the track.
      Left Lane: Steve Johnson    Runs 7.816/177.35, Now #8
     Right Lane: GT Tonglet       Runs 7.225/177.00, Now #2
Johnson spun the rear tire as he launched while Tonglet had a clean pass.
      Left Lane: Karen Stoffer    Runs 7.287/181.84, Now #4
     Right Lane: Mike Berry       No Time, Now #16
Stoffer had a clean run. Berry broke and was not able to make a pass.
      Left Lane: Fred Collis      Runs 7.152/185.95, Now #1
     Right Lane: Andrew Hines     Runs 7.779/146.04, Now #10
Collis had a strong run here to go to the top of the field. Hines spun the rear tire early and never got up to speed.
      Left Lane: Craig Treble     Runs 7.170/185.43, Now #2
     Right Lane: Reggie Showers   Runs 7.250/185.03, Now #6
Treble had a 1.085 second 60-foot time. Showers had a clean run.
      Left Lane: Antron Brown     Runs 7.190/185.31, Now #4
     Right Lane: Angelle Savoie   Runs 11.980/67.22, Now #21
Savoie had a quick launch and a 1.072 second 60-foot time. But she missed a shift and slowed by the time she reached the 660 foot mark. Brown had a clean run.
      Left Lane: Shawn Gann       Runs 7.135/183.34, Now #1
     Right Lane: Geno Scali       Runs 7.175/182.62, Now #5
Gann was strong from start to finish and pulled out a run that put him at the top of the order. Scali also had a good run and is well into the top half of the field.
