He did it this time with a hole shot against Showers, who was trying to go to the first final round of his career. Treble got out in front at the start and stayed out there the whole way. They have never met in the finals before this race. Treble last went to the finals in Houston, where he lost to Angelle Savoie. He did not qualify for the next race in Atlanta and worked his way to the finals here. This will be his twelfth appearance in the finals. He has five wins and six losses in his previous 11 final rounds. Gann has been to the finals six times before this and has a record of one win and five losses. His last trip to the finals was at the last race in Atlanta when he lost to Geno Scali on a red light.
Treble had a hole shot off the starting line but sounded like he had some problems along the way and, even though he took three times as long to leave the starting line, he ran Gann down by about 800 feet and took the win.
