Firebird Int’l Raceway
Firebird Int’l Raceway has been a regular stop on the NHRA POWERade Drag Racing circuit since 1985. Built by former Funny Car racer Charlie Allen, the multipurpose facility hosted the Fallnationals until 1990, when the event was moved from October to February. As a result of the schedule change, the track has produced some of the sport’s all-time-best numbers. In 1999, Tony Schumacher recorded the sport’s first 330-mph run (330.26). Last year, Schumacher won Top Fuel for the first time since the 2000 Mac Tools U.S. Nationals. Del Worsham delayed John Force’s 100th Funny Car win, and Bruce Allen defeated Warren Johnson for the Pro Stock title.

HOW TO GET THERE: The track is 10 miles south of Phoenix and just minutes from Phoenix Sky Harbor Int’l Airport. From Phoenix, take Interstate 10 east to the Maricopa exit (162A). From Tucson, take I-10 west to the Maricopa exit (162B)
