Rain cuts short day two of Summit Finals at Cecil County Dragway

RISING SUN, Md. - The second day of racing action at the NHRA Summit Racing Series Finals, being held at Cecil County Dragway, was cut short Friday evening due to rain. With drier weather set to move in overnight, racing is planned to continue tomorrow at 8:30 a.m.

Saturday's action will feature the continuation of the RBS Trailer Sales Race of Champions and the highly regarded individual championships in Super ET, Heavy ET, Bike/Sled and Street. The winner of those categories qualifies for the NHRA Summit Racing Series National Finals, to be held at the Automobile Club of Southern California NHRA Finals, November 7-10 in Pomona, Calif. There they will complete for a "winner-takes-all" $5000 purse.

Saturday will also feature the High School Eliminator Challenge presented by Luzerne County Community College. Open to competitors currently enrolled in High School, or 2002 graduates, the High School Eliminator Challenge is a no-electronics eliminator. The winner of the eliminator will receive a $1000 U.S Savings Bond to be presented at the NHRA Northeast Division Championship Banquet in January of 2003. The winner's school will also receive $1000, donated by the Northeast Division track operators to be used in the promotion of motorsports education.
