No changes to Comp indexes in 2003

12/09/2002

Much speculation has been floating around on the Internet and other sources about the possible pending changes to Comp indexes. The NHRA Tech department and the Competition Eliminator Committee unanimously agreed that no indexes, for any Comp classes, would be adjusted prior to the start of the 2003 season.

"There were several racers that felt that an index change was justifiable for their particular applications, however, the overwhelming majority of the racers did not want any indexes changed for the start of 2003," said Len Imbrogno, Director of Sportsman Racing and Member Tracks. "The general consensus was that NHRA has made enough adjustments the last two years and it was time to leave the indexes alone. By taking this approach, NHRA is following the lead of the racers and listening to their concerns."
