Pomona Raceway to host Pacific Division event

Historic Pomona Raceway will host the Summer Nights of Fire, Aug. 9-11, the fifth of six races in the 2002 Pacific Division event schedule, NHRA officials announced. Super Eliminator and Motorcycle will also compete at the one-time event.

The event will feature night racing on Friday and Saturday with final eliminations scheduled for Sunday at the famed quarter-mile. Competitors in eight categories vie for NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series national and divisional championships, highlighted by 260-mph Top Alcohol Dragsters and Top Alcohol Funny Cars. Competitors in Competition Eliminator, Super Stock, Stock, Super Comp, Super Gas and Super Street, also will compete at the one-time event.
