Grubnic gets to about 100 feet and smokes the tires. Russell drops cylinders and spins the tires down track. Ugly but a win for the Amato crew. It appeared that Cory slapped the pedal once at about 200 feet as the tires were beginning to rattle. Big win for the Hartman team. (W) Andrew Cowin (N.Y. Smith blew the Goodyear's off right at the hit and could only watch Cowin disappear. The was a career best speed for Cowin. Bernstein moved about 50 feet and the smoke just poured off the tires. Muldowney goes out and runs her career best ET and moves on to the second round. A case of Miller to be delivered later? (W) Tony Schumacher (U.S. Army Dragster) 0.484 4.598 326.48 (L) Yuichi Oyama (Gava King Dragster) 0.522 6.118 140.61 Oyama stays with Schumacher until about half track. That was it though as something goes wrong with his racer and he watches Schumacher disappears into the distance. Muldowney will have lane choice over The Sarge in the second round. (W) Doug Kalitta (MAC Tools Dragster) 0.473 4.592 321.81 (L) Melanie Troxel (Ghilotti Dragster) 0.491 6.401 135.73 4.5's are really cheap right now. Kalitta has Kiss sponsorship this weekend and a couple members of the group are here to watch. Troxel puts a hole out at the hit and got to about 200 feet before the engine started eating it's self alive. Blower booms and the belt comes off. Kalitta will face Cowin next round without lane choice. (W) Doug Herbert (Snap-On Tools Dragster) 0.468 4.621 317.94 (L) Mike Strasburg (Parts Plus Dragster) 0.501 12.258 95.52 Strasburg blows the tires of and Dougzilla takes the win. West said he detuned the car a small amount to be safe. The still will have the lane choice over Russell in the next round. (W) Larry Dixon (Miller Lite Dragster) 0.488 4.626 321.81 (L) Scott Weis (RaceGirl Dragster) 0.475 4.867 294.24 By may math Dixon needs to go to the semi final round to close out Bernstein. He gets the first round win over Weis with a fairly tame tuneup. Dixon will face Rhonda Hartman-Smith with lane choice in his pocket. That's all for round one.

LAS VEGAS - SUMMIT FastNews - Results of round 2 eliminations in Top Fuel at the NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series, Second annual ACDelco Las Vegas NHRA Nationals: W/L Driver RT ET Speed (W) Larry Dixon (Miller Lite Dragster) 0.508 4.589 323.35 (L) Rhonda Hartman-Smith (Fram Filters Dragster)0.560 4.671 308.50 Dixon needs to win this round to become the second racer of the weekend to clinch a POWERade Championship. He does, and does it in a big way. Another 4.5 and the win. Rhonda didn't roll over for him and ran very well. Just not enough. Dixon had .05 in the bank at the hit and never had to look over his shoulder. Congratulations to the entire Miller Lite team. (W) Tony Schumacher (U.S. Army Dragster) 0.465 4.647 319.22 (L) Shirley Muldowney (MAC Tools/Action Dragster0.501 4.643 322.34 Great race! Schumacher left on Muldowney but Shirley stayed right with him all the way to the finish. It appeared that Muldowney's racer was spinning the tires after half track. No smoke but black track all the way to the stripe. Bottom line is The Sarge moves on and Shirley will be packing up. Herbert is hooked up and pulling hard to the finish stripe until there was another blower explosion in Dougzilla's racer. He levels another blower and trails parts everywhere. Hard on parts but Herbert advances with lane choice over Schumacher in the semis. (W) Andrew Cowin (N.Y. Yankees Dragster) 0.525 4.621 321.42 (L) Doug Kalitta (MAC Tools Dragster) 0.514 11.752 84.66 One thing different this race only is that the teams are working on a 65 minute rule between rounds. Kalitta smokes the tires and Cowin moves down range smartly for the win. Cowin gives up lane choice against the new POWERade Champ, Dixon, in the other semi final.

(W) Larry Dixon (Miller Lite Dragster) 0.498 4.622 323.12 (L) Andrew Cowin (N.Y. Yankees Dragster) 0.374(R) 4.598 327.27 Cowin can't wait and turns on the rare Top Fuel red light wasting a 4.59. So, it's Dixon with lane choice with Tony Schumacher in the final.

LAS VEGAS - SUMMIT FastNews - Results of final, round 4 eliminations in Top Fuel at the NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series, Second annual ACDelco Las Vegas NHRA Nationals: W/L Driver RT ET Speed (W) Larry Dixon (Miller Lite Dragster) 0.440 4.613 320.28 (L) Tony Schumacher (U.S. Army Dragster) 0.469 4.674 314.75 Here we are at the final Pro Final of the day. Dixon and Schumacher have met three times before this season in a final round. Dixon is up 2-1 going into this run. A win for Dixon would pull him even with Gary Scelzi for 5th on the all time list. Dixon takes an early lead and pulls away for the win. Dixon's win means that all of the clinching POWEade Champs also won their class in today's event. Big win for Dixon and Team Snake and Miller Lite.
